Music for the Mind is a unique fundraising event to support research for neurologic diseases. Presented in partnership with MedStar National Rehabilitation Network (MedStar NRH), the event includes a pre- and post-performance cocktail reception and features international opera star, Marquita Lister, accompanied by Marvin Mills and Robert Cantrell. Georgetown University Medical Center is a world-class academic health center and leader in biomedical research. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness about Georgetown’s Mind-Brain Initiative, which is translating groundbreaking discoveries into new therapeutic approaches for patients suffering from debilitating neurodegenerative and neurotraumatic conditions.
MedStar National Rehabilitation Network is a regional system of rehabilitation care that offers inpatient, day treatment and outpatient services in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia. The Network’s team of rehabilitation experts helps adults and children recover as fully as possible from disabling conditions such as brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, concussions, back and neck pain, cancer, amputations, fibromyalgia, foot and ankle disorders and sports and work-related injuries.
A Private Performance by International Opera Star Marquita Lister and guests
International opera star Marquita Lister, who is also a former MedStar NRH patient, will be joined by pianist Marvin Mills and baritone Robert Cantrell to perform a selection of Broadway and classical favorites, including music from her signature role of Bess in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
